United States Embassy Manila, Philippines

United States Consular Agency, Cebu Philippines

April 6, 2021

Effective instantly, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), pursuant to not too long ago issued Memorandum Circular No. 2021-004, will enable native notarization within the Philippines of the “Affidavit of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage.”

As a consequence, U.S. residents who want to marry within the Philippines are now not required to have their affidavits notarized on the Embassy or Consular Agency.  Instead, you’ll have the affidavit notarized domestically within the Philippines.  We encourage U.S. residents to have these affidavits notarized domestically, as appointments for consular companies stay restricted on the Embassy and Consular Agency because of the ongoing pandemic.

Please go to the PSA web site or inquire with the Local Civil Registry Office the place you intend to be married for extra data.
