…nobody teaches this and it’s soooo frustrating to me. I know my way around a camera pretty well, but some of these more technical types of tricks and effects are things I still have yet to conquer and really figure out. THANK YOU soooo much for doing this for us!! I would sure give the world for you to also do a couple of videos teaching us how to photograph sparkler exits, light trails with wedding reception dance photos, how to photograph those cigar smoke photos of the guys on wedding day, and how to get that hair spray shot when the bride is getting ready. I’d also love to learn how to do some of those trick photos that so many of you do on wedding days – the reflection, shooting through things, bokeh lights, ring shots with an extra fun flair, etc. A super fun photographer that does a lot of this stuff is Jason Martin with Concept Photography. This guy has some super cool photography tricks and effects and I still have yet to figure out how he does a lot of them.
Thanks Emily! We did create a full length tutorial on wedding photograph you can find on Fstoppers.com/store. It’s pretty old now and we look super young but we cover most of those topics. If I can find access to some brides/weddings, I’d love to create more videos about those topics. I believe we have a few excerpts on our channel from that tutorial on how to shoot the cake and 4 ways to light wedding receptions. -P
In the wedding day you dont have time for nothing or almost nothing… I usually put the rings next to the rest of the items I use in my details photos (bouquet, bride shoes, etc)
Not sure what you are asking. I came up with a formula and always shot the details during the dinner when little was happening (there are toasts and dances but most of the first hour is just people eating). Some weddings would be kind of boring with no one dancing or anything happening and others would be jam packed full of things to photograph. Each wedding differed and offered a large variety of situations but I always had time to get the photos I felt I needed to take. -P
